Turning left down the river from our boatyard takes you to Potter Heigham, it is a leisurely 20-minute cruise. There are 24-hour free moorings, you will find them through the first bridge on the left-hand side of the river.
Potter Heigham is a village 12 miles north-east of the city of Norwich, famous for its mediaeval bridge and day boat hire Potter Heigham. The larger boats are unable to get under the low bridge, which keeps the upper reaches of the River Thurne, where Martham Ferry Day Boat Hire is based, an oasis for boating and wildlife. The Weavers Way, which is a 61-mile footpath, passes through Potter Heigham and is great for exercising the dog.
Potter Higham Bridge is believed to date back to 1385 and is the lowest bridge on the broads, 6’6 at low tide. The bridge pilot is based at Pheonix Boats. Herbertwoods Boat Yard is at Potter Heigham and was founded in was in 1928.

Located just a stone’s throw from the River Thurne, close to the majority of the village’s moorings, the pub serves a good selection of food to hungry diners. The Norada has a great kid’s play area and regular events take place in the pub throughout the week.
