Exploring the Broads on a boat is a fantastic way to spend a day. The perfect blend of wildlife, peace and adventure, which is best enjoyed on the quieter side of the Broads.
There are two road bridges over the river at Potter Heigham, a main A-road bridge carrying lots of traffic, and a historic, listed bridge dating from medieval times. Due to the small opening in the old bridge, larger cruisers can not go under the old bridge at Potter Heigham. This means that upriver of Potter Heigham there are fewer boats and a more peaceful environment for those who have hired boats from Martham Ferry to enjoy, giving you the greatest chances of seeing our wonderful birds and other wildlife.
Our daily hire boats have the added benefit of being able to fit through Potter Heigham Bridge, (a pilot may be required) so during your boat hire with us you can explore both sides of the Broads.
The Norfolk Broads are famous for fishing, many record-breaking Pike have been caught very near our boatyard. The open season is from 16th June - 15th March. Deep Dyke and the Upper Thurne are some of the most sought-after places to fish and a short motor from Martham Ferry Boatyard. We have a fully equipped semi-flat Seastrike 14ft fishing boat for hire.
